Jennie T. Oboyski, 90, former longtime resident, died Wednesday morning at the Putnam General Hospital in Eatonton, Ga.
She had made her home with her nephew, Peter McCumiskey, and his wife, Darlene, in Greensboro, Ga.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 31, 1915, daughter of Teofil and Sabina Ostaszewski Oboyski, she was a 1935 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
For over 50 years, she owned and operated Oboyski's Foodland, a neighborhood grocery store in Pittsfield, with her late brother, Edward, until its closing in 1995.
She was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Miss Jennie T. Oboyski died in Eatonton, Ga., on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. She leaves a sister-in-law, Monica Oboyski, many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Julia McCumiskey, her brothers, Edward and Sidmore Oboyski, and three infant sisters.
Funeral services will be tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 26, at 8:15 from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in Holy Family Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
If friends desire, donations may be made to Holy Family Church. She was known for her cheerful attitude, wonderful smile, and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
