Catherine N. Lane

Catherine N. Lane, 94, of Cliffwood Street died Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in New Lebanon, N.Y., on Dec. 14, 1910, daughter of Thomas and Anna Joyce Nealon, she was a 1930 graduate of the former New Lebanon Central School.
She was also a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield.
Mrs. Lane had been employed as a bookkeeper at the former Windsor Mountain School in Lenox, the former Foxhollow School for Girls in Lee, and the former Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox. During World War II, Mrs. Lane worked at GE.
She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church.
Her husband, David N. Lane, the first police chief to be appointed by the town of Lenox, died Dec. 27, 1969. They were married Nov. 20, 1943, in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon.
She leaves two daughters, Mary L. McDarby of Lee and Kathleen L. Welch of Lenox; two sons, David F. Lane of Lenox and Edward P. Lane of Lenox Dale, and nine grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Catherine N. Lane will be Saturday at 10:30 from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Ann's Church.
Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 to 10:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to either the Berkshire Humane Society, or the Lenox Police Association, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Lane, Kimberly Herman, Maggie and Meghan Welch, and Sean, Matthew, Brian and Kevin Lane.
