Frederick Robert "Bob" Hoyt Jr., 86, formerly of 103 East St. North, Goshen, Conn., died Monday at Adams House Health Care in Torrington, Conn.
Born in Pittsfield on April 22, 1918, son of Frederick R. Hoyt Sr. and Ruth P. Carpenter Hoyt, he was educated in local schools.
He moved to Connecticut in 1956.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 242nd Infantry Division in Europe.
Mr. Hoyt was employed for 27 years by Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn., retiring in 1983. He had previously worked at GE and the former Smith Paper Co. in Lee, and as a salesman for Electrolux and the former Million Motors.
He had been a member of Church of Christ Congregational in Goshen, the Torrington lodge of Masons and the American Legion.
His first wife, the former Esther L. Post, died Nov. 10, 1994. They were married Sept. 16, 1938, at her parents' home in Pittsfield.
He leaves his wife, the former Ellen Breakell; four sons, Frederick R. Hoyt III of East Hampton, N.J., John Richard Hoyt of Granby, Conn., Steven Edward Hoyt of Rochester, Ind., and James Carpenter Hoyt of Winston, Ore.; a daughter, Ruth Louise Hamilton of Winsted, Conn.; a brother, David Hoyt of Maine, 17 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Frederick Robert "Bob" Hoyt, who died Feb. 21, 2005, will be Friday at 2 at Church of Christ Congregational in Goshen. Burial will be in East Street North Cemetery in the spring.
