Dorothy L. Helliwell, 70, of 7 Crane Ave. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 23, 1934, daughter of William P. and Lillian Blowe Burns, she was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
She received her bachelor's degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in 1955.
Mrs. Helliwell was employed as a teacher by the former Pomeroy School for seven years, and later worked at the former Sheaffer Eaton Corp. for seven years, until 1962.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church.
She and her husband, Edward L. Helliwell, were married June 2, 1960, in St. Charles' Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Edward W. Helliwell of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia A. Sawyer of Granby, Conn.; a sister, Marilyn Barry of Hemet, Calif., and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Dorothy L. Helliwell, 70, died in Pittsfield on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. Beloved grandmother to Samantha L. Helliwell and mother-in-law to Thomas A. Sawyer and Angela Girard.
The funeral will be tomorrow, Feb. 23, at 9:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Feb. 22, from 4 to 7. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Charles' Church in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Helliwell also leaves several nieces and nephews.
