Mary A. Gwozdz, 57, of Pittsfield and Lenox, died Saturday morning at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield shortly after being admitted.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 4, 1947, daughter of Merrill and Rose M. McGovern Hart, she was a 1965 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She also graduated from Berkshire Community College and attended Williams College.
Mrs. Gwozdz was employed by GE for 17 years, including as an executive assistant to former CEO Jack Welch. She left in 1992 because of ill health.
A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she enjoyed yoga and meditation.
She and her husband, Joseph Gwozdz, would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary May 19. They were married in Sacred Heart Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves her twin brother, Michael M. Hart of Chelmsford, and another brother, John T. Hart of Andover.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mary A. Hart Gwozdz died Feb. 19, 2005. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 1, at 9 at St. Joseph's Church by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She will be remembered as always willing to help others in time of need and as being charitable to several organizations, especially Berkshire Medical Center and the Children's Hospital in Boston.
I am so sad to find out that my dear beloved ex sister-in -law had passed away. Loved her dearly.
