Mae Ruth Gerner-DiPietro, 81, a longtime resident of Bushnell, Fla., and of Pitman and Glassboro, N.J., for many years, died Thursday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided since September 1998.
Born July 12, 1923 in Mount Royal, N.J., daughter of Asher Kirkbride Haines and Florence Owen Haines, she attended New Jersey schools and was a 1941 graduate of Swedesboro (N.J.) High School.
She had attended Strayer's Business College in Philadelphia.
Primarily a homemaker in her younger years, she worked as a clerk for numerous businesses in the South Jersey area.
She enjoyed drawing, crafts and reading.
Her first husband, Albert Melvin Gerner, whom she married April 10, 1943, died May 21, 1973. Her second husband, Ruggerio DiPietro, died Feb. 26, 1987.
She leaves three sons, Robert E. Gerner of Becket, Richard B. Gerner of Deptford, N.J., and A. Douglas Gerner of Sewell, N.J.; two stepdaughters, Joanne Kneiczys and Regina Hurley, both of Lancaster, Pa.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside memorial service for Mae R. Gerner-DiPietro, who died Feb. 10, 2005, will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hurffville, N.J. at 11. There are no calling hours.
Mae is lovingly survived by her nine grandchildren, Jason R. Gerner, Richard Gerner Jr., Randy Gerner, Tanyia Gerner, Lisa Mobley, Edward Waddell, Kayla Gerner, Lisa Gerner and Jaime Gerner; 12 great-grandchildren, and three daughters-in-law, Janet M. Gerner, Annie M. Gerner and Judy L. Gerner.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Robert Norse Gerner, on June 13, 1985. DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, is handling arrangements.
