Beverly J. Carlson, 61, of 1097 North St. died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center following a long battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 9, 1943, in Spencer, daughter of George T. Nelson and Dorothy Whitamore, she was a 1961 graduate of North Brookfield High School, and in 1991 she received her associate's degree in human services from Berkshire Community College.
For the past five years she had been working as a mission coordinator at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge.
Mrs. Carlson was an active member of the Dalton United Methodist Church and was involved with its various groups and committees.
She enjoyed crafts and most of all she loved her grandchildren.
She leaves her husband, David Carlson, whom she married June 24, 1961.
She also leaves three daughters, Donna "DJ" Carlson of Lanesboro, Sandra Sondrabonacquisti and Darlene Ross, both of Pittsfield; a son, Donald Carlson of Pittsfield; a brother, Greg Bell of West Brookfield; her mother of West Brookfield; and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Mrs. Beverly Carlson will be held March 19, 2005, at the Dalton United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME.
Among survivors are her grandchildren, Seth and Gianna Sondrabonacquisti, and Jayde, Jacob and Joshua Carlson; a daughter-in-law, Christine Carlson; and a sister-in-law, Linda Bell.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Relay for Life in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
