Mary Gasson

Mary Gasson, 87, of 79 Clark Road died Sunday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she was admitted 10 days ago.

Born in Cohoes, N.Y., on April 27, 1917, daughter of Angelo and Angela DiFalco Petruzella, she was educated in Lee and Pittsfield schools.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Gasson had been employed by A.H. Rice Corp. at one time.

She was a member of Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene in Dalton.

She enjoyed gardening, reading and music.

Her husband, Joseph J. Gasson, whom she married Sept. 2, 1940, died Nov. 2, 1974.

She leaves a daughter, Shirley A. Butler, with whom she made her home; three brothers, Frank Petruzella and Isaiah Petruzella, both of Pittsfield, and James Petruzella of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Virginia Cimini of Portsmouth, R.I., two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mary Gasson died in Pittsfield on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow, Feb. 16, at 11 at DWYER FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Bryan Lamberton, pastor of Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene of Dalton. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 10 until the time of the service.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Marshall Butler. They were her primary caregivers with whom she lived. Loving grandmother to Raymond Butler Jr. and his wife, Stephanie A., Mary-Renee Butler and her fiancé, Matthew J. Lemberg; beloved great-grandmother to Ryan M. and Cara E. Mary also leaves her loving dog, Ginger.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mary's memory may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County, Berkshire Visting Nurse Association or to Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene "Prime Time."

She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Petruzella, and three sisters, Concetta Leone, Mamie Marino and Grace Petruzella.
