Michael J. Passetto, 46, of 14 Patterson Road, Lenox Dale, died Saturday morning at home of brain cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on March 12, 1958, son of the late August and Deloris Gramkowski Passetto, he attended Lee schools and was a 1976 graduate of Lee High School.
He moved to Lenox Dale in 1983.
Mr. Passetto joined the Army in 1980. He served nine years and was stationed at Scholfield Barracks in Hawaii and at Westover Air Base in Chicopee.
Before and after the service, he worked for Old Castle Stone Products, the former Lee Lime Corp., where he was a machine operator for 28 years and shop steward until leaving in November.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Lee until moving to Lenox Dale. He was a downhill ski instructor and coached the Lee High School team from 1999 to 2003.
He was a bike racer with the Berkshire Cycling Association and a tri-athlete in the Josh Billings Run-Aground races and other local events.
He and his wife, the former Patricia Phillips, were married May 1, 1982.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Michael J. Passetto II of Lenox Dale and Pfc. Edward S. Passetto of the Marine Corps; a daughter, Jennifer L. Passetto of Lenox Dale; a brother, Stephen J. Passetto of Lee, and three sisters, Tammy A. Passetto of Lenox Dale, Barbara J. Donlon of Randolph and Kathleen M. Morawiec of Lee.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Michael J. Passetto will be Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 8:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale celebrated by the Rev. Max Kishe, chaplain at Providence Care Center in Lenox. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. He also is survived by his nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Samantha Passetto, Brandon and Joshua Donlon, and Bradford and Lydia Morawiec.
