Nelson Joseph Bossana

Nelson Joseph Bossana, 82, of 468 Fenn St. died yesterday at Williamstown Commons, 25 Adams Road, Williamstown, where he had resided since April 14.
He was a former longtime resident of 97 Barth St., North Adams, before moving to Pittsfield.
Born in North Adams on June 25, 1922, son of Michael and Domenica Martina Bossana, he was educated in North Adams schools, including Drury High School.
Mr. Bossana was employed as a folding machine operator at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams until the outbreak of World War II. He entered the Army on Nov. 18, 1942, serving in Company I of the 30th Infantry Regiment in the European theater, including the Battles of the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded several campaign medals.
After the war, he returned to Arnold Print Works as a color technician, retiring in 1978.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a former communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, both in North Adams.
He and his wife, the former Lorraine Evelyn Mailhot, were married Jan. 30, 1965. She died July 29, 1997.
He leaves a son, Michael N. Bossana of New Ashford; a daughter, Lisa M. Blanchard of North Adams; three stepsons, William M. Simon of Adams, Daniel J. Simon of San Viejo, Calif., and David R. Simon of North Adams, and 13 grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Nelson J. Bossana will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 10:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 64 Marshall St., North Adams, by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are suggested for the Blind Veterans Organization through the funeral home.
Survivors include 13 grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
