William C. Silvernail

William C. Silvernail, 64, of 3404 Glendale Lane, Ellenton, Fla., and Richmond, died Tuesday at Blake Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
For the past five years, he had spent winters in Florida.
Born in Hanover, N.H., on May 28, 1940, son of Martha Potwin Silvernail and the late Roderick Silvernail, he and his family moved to Pittsfield when he was five years old.
He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, and earned a degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
Mr. Silvernail had been employed by the state of Massachusetts as a civil engineer for over 30 years. He was also a part-time tax assessor for the town of Richmond for 30 years.
He was a member of the Wisdom Masonic Lodge in West Stockbridge and the Richmond Grange and was a past Boy Scout leader.
He enjoyed golfing, treasure hunting and wood carving.
His first wife, the former Joan Whitcomb, whom he married Feb. 2, 1959, died Nov. 2, 1995.
He and his wife, the former Theda DeMarco, were married July 13, 1999.
Besides his mother, and wife, he leaves two sons, Paul Silvernail of Dalton and Dennis Silvernail of Whigham, Ga.; two daughters, Deborah Warner and Sharon Hunt, both of Pittsfield; three stepsons, Donald Tripp of Richmond, Vt., Kevin Tripp of Guilford, N.H., and Robin Tripp of Bennington, Vt.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Craig of Palma, Calif., and 17 grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for William C. Silvernail, who died Monday, will be held Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at 10 at the Richmond Congregational Church with the Rev. Irene Jones, pastor, officiating.
Following cremation, burial will be in Center Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the North River Fire Department in Ellenton, Fla., in care of the funeral home, 220 East St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
