Margaret Isabel Stevens

Margaret Isabel Stevens, 83, a former longtime resident of Dalton, died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.

She had recently resided at Melbourne Place in Pittsfield.

Born in Cheshire on Sept. 18, 1921, daughter of Henry and Laura Belcher Keller, she was a 1941 graduate of the former Adams High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Stevens had been manager of the former Launder-Well in Coltsville in Pittsfield. She had worked for Crane & Co. in the mid-1940s

She was a member of First Congregational Church.

She enjoyed motor trips, playing bingo and listening to country and western music.

She also collected New England Village pieces.

She and her husband, Delmar "Del" W. Stevens, were married June 17, 1944, in Cheshire Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, James W. Stevens of Easthampton; a daughter, Lorraine A. Porter of Pittsfield, and three grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Margaret Isabel Stevens, who died Jan. 30, 2005, will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 3, at 11 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Robert Kyte, pastor of First Congregational Church of Dalton.

Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Renal Dialysis (FORD Foundation) in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.

She was predeceased by her twin sister, Mabel Keller. She leaves her beloved staff at renal dialysis, her special cousin, Carole Forward, as well as other cousins.
