Duane W. "Duke" Poincelot, 83, of 62 Ensign Ave. died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on June 25, 1921, son of Albert and Helen Schnopp Poincelot, he was a 1939 graduate of the former Dalton High School, where he played baseball.
An Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he served in North Africa and the Middle East.
Mr. Poincelot was employed by GE in the shipping department office of the power transformer division for 44 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church, the GE Quarter Century Club, American Legion Post 155, the VFW Post 9566 and the Wahconah Country Club.
His wife, the former Barbara Sillars, whom he married June 5, 1948, died July 9, 1981.
He leaves a stepson, Thomas Broderick of Southhold, N.Y.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Duane W. "Duke" Poincelot, who died Jan. 28, 2005, will be conducted Wednesday at 11 at First Congregational Church in Dalton with the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton 01226.
