Harry C. Lincoln Jr., 83, of 180 High St. died Friday at Martin Memorial South Hospital in Stuart, Fla., where he had been visiting family.
Born in Taunton on July 8, 1921, son of Harry C. Lincoln Sr. and Mary Gardner Lincoln, he graduated from Taunton High School. He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his master's degree in education in 1962 from the former North Adams State Teachers College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Lincoln was employed as a math teacher for many years at Nessacus Middle School, retiring in 1984. He had previously been teacher and principal of Windsor School and then principal of Cummington School.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a charter member of the Dalton Lions Club, where he also served as president and deputy district governor.
He was named a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest award in the Lions organization, for his many accomplishments. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 155 and VFW Post 9566.
He and his wife, the former Edith Appel, were married July 11, 1942.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Harry C. Lincoln III of Stuart and David A. Lincoln of Middletown, R.I.; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Harry C. Lincoln, who died Jan. 28, 2005, will be held at a date to be announced at Grace Episcopal Church. There will be no calling hours. Burial of his ashes will be in the spring.
