Colombe DesNeiges Coakley-Rice, 88, formerly of 10 Sunnyside Drive, died Saturday evening at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where she had resided for two weeks.
Born in Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada, on Feb. 10, 1916, daughter of Omer and Roseanna Lefebvre Lacroix, she came to the United States at age 9 and attended Pittsfield schools.
Mrs. Coakley-Rice was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and reading.
Her first husband, Joseph Coakley, died Feb. 8, 1969, and her second husband, Robert Rice, whom she married Aug. 31, 1974, died Aug. 31, 2004.
She leaves three daughters, Rosanne M. Gagne of Great Barrington, Ellen A. Chapman of Pittsfield and Irene M. Carnevale of Dalton; a stepson, Frederick Rice of Leominster; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Colombe D. Coakley-Rice, who died Jan. 29, 2005, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, which is handling arrangements.
She was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters.
