Geraldine "Rae" Arasimowicz

Geraldine "Rae" Arasimowicz, 83, of 96 Danforth Ave. died yesterday morning at home.

Born in Albany, N.Y., on July 24, 1921, daughter of Thomas J. and Daphene L. Gallup Powers, she was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

She had lived on Danforth Avenue for 42 years.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Arasimowicz had been employed as a waitress at the former Rosa Restaurant for 20 years.

She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality and Mothers' Guild, and was recording treasurer for 10 years. She was an active member of the parish's picnic and bazaar committees and enjoyed preparing Polish foods for those events.

She was a Yankees fan.

Her husband, John Arasimowicz, whom she married March 6, 1950, died Aug. 4, 1988.

She leaves two sons, Thomas A. Arasimowicz and John M. Arasimowicz, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Jane D. Keelor of Vero Beach, Fla., two granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Celebration of Life will begin for Geraldine "Rae" Arasimowicz, who died Jan. 26, 2005, with calling hours Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at DERY FUNERAL HOME and will continue on Saturday at 8:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Holy Family Church concelebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, and the Rev. Michael W.T. Twardzik, pastor of St. Francis' Church, North Adams.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church's Mothers' Guild or CCD Program, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. She leaves two granddaughters, Amy Mulrooney and Shayna Ann Arasimowicz; her two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Ethan; her beloved daughter-in-law, Renee; her son-in-law, John R. Keelor Jr.; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by a sister, Daphene A. Gazley on May 3, 1993. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
