Douglas Melvin Gordon, 69, of 176 Columbus Ave., Berkshire Town Apartments, died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on May 30, 1935, son of Wilford and Claire Lemoine Gordon, he was a 1953 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Gordon was employed as a mover by the former Eaton Paper Co. for three years, until leaving in 1984 because of ill health. Prior to that, he had worked for the Pittsfield Sanitation Department for several years and the former Big N Department Store as an assistant manager of the plant and hardware departments.
An avid sports fan, he enjoyed the Red Sox and bowling.
He and his wife, the former Cheryl J. Frenier, were married May 30, 1975.
Besides his wife, he leaves a brother, Dustin Gordon of Pittsfield, and two sisters, Carol White of Micco, Fla., and Janice Hunt of Bennington, Vt.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Douglas M. Gordon, who died Jan. 24, 2005, will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Medical Center Renal Dialysis Unit. DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 in handling arrangements.
