Patrick T. Casey Jr., 89, of 142 Gale Ave., formerly of Epworth Arms, died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Pittsfield on July 14, 1915, son of Patrick T. Casey Sr. and Mathilda M. Gordon Casey, he was a lifelong resident and attended local schools.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served with the infantry for two years throughout Europe during World War II.
Mr. Casey was most recently employed at GE Ordnance Systems plant as a fork truck operator, retiring in 1982 after 13 years of service.
Following his retirement, he worked at Jimmy's Restaurant as a maintenance person until 2002. Earlier he was employed at the former Tannery in West Pittsfield and worked for the commonwealth of Massachusetts for a short period.
He also worked at the former Model Dairy and Fairdale Farms and then became employed at the Pittsfield Boys' and Girls' Club as a custodian for 10 years.
He enjoyed tilling the earth and gardening, and was an avid Yankees fan. He also enjoyed his horses, which he kept for many years.
He leaves his niece and caregiver, Karen J. Brassard, with whom he lived for four years, and two sisters, Mary Rocheleau and Kathryn Doucette, both of Venice, Fla.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Patrick T. Casey Jr., 89, was called safely home on Jan. 20, 2005. The Rev. John Salatino will celebrate a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at 9 in St. Mark's Church.
The burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations in his name may be made to the charity of one's choice in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, whom have been entrusted with the arrangements.
