William F. Broderick

William F. Broderick, 75, of 33 Hazelwood Terrace, died Thursday, Jan. 20, at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 7, 1929, son of Patrick and Elizabeth Ryan Broderick, he was a lifelong resident and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1947.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Broderick was employed as a general manager for Crescent Creamery, retiring in 1997 after more than 45 years of service.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pittsfield Rotary Club.

He enjoyed following his grandchildren's sports.

He leaves his wife, the former Kathleen Verchot, whom he married Oct. 8, 1949, in St. Mark's Church; two sons, Shaun A. Broderick of Saratoga, N.Y., and Brian L. Broderick of Pittsfield; three daughters, Kathleen M. Broderick, Ellen B. MacDonald and Mary T. Choquette, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Meaney of Dalton; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Daniel B. Broderick, died April 3, 1993, and a daughter, Elizabeth A. Broderick, died April 14, 2000.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. William F. Broderick died in Pittsfield on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005. Beloved grandfather to Michelle Baker, Shaun, Katie and Colleen Broderick, Michael, Marielle and Christopher MacDonald, Gerald, Matthew and Micaela Broderick, Megan, Karen and James Choquette, and Shane, Mark and Daniel Broderick.

Loving great-grandfather to Ryan Harrison and Alexis Baker. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 24, at 10 from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME. A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 in Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be at the funeral home tomorrow, Jan. 23 from 2 to 5. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Servants of Jesus and Mary in care of the funeral home in his memory. Mr. Broderick also leaves a son-in-law, three daughters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and James Broderick.
