Ruth M. Sleeper

Ruth M. Sleeper, 93, formerly of Berkshire Town Apartments, died Wednesday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since May 2001.
Born in Pittsfield on April 28, 1911, daughter of Andrew J. and Freida Lubold Hermance, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and the former Berkshire Business College.
Mrs. Sleeper was employed by the Seven States Gas Co. for two years as a bookkeeper and later as a cashier at the Rosa Restaurant for 20 years, until her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Clyde C. Sleeper, died Oct. 23, 1955.
She leaves a son, Clayton L. Sleeper of Denton, Texas; a sister, Esther Bornak of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Arnold C. Sleeper.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Mrs. Ruth M. Sleeper will be Tuesday at 11 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Peter Boehringer, pastor of the Zion's Lutheran Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Zion's Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield 01201.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Anna Sutherland, Florence Rivard and Edna Freehoffer.
