Margaret Ann Mole

Margaret Ann Mole, 89, formerly of 38 Dartmouth St., died Sunday at Sugar Hill in Dalton, where she had resided since October 2002.

Born in Pittsfield on May 5, 1915, daughter of Giovanni and Felecina Raso Paladino, she attended local schools.

Mrs. Mole was employed by American Greetings Cards for 22 years, retiring in 1999. She received the 20-year American Greetings Card Service award.

She also was a professional seamstress for Rose Morris for many years.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Ladies' Guild, and had sung in the church choir. In 1985, she received the Donald Butler Service Award for distinguished volunteer service; in 2002, she received the Retired Senior Volunteer Program 20-year service award.

She was a member of the American Red Cross Grey Ladies, receiving her 40-year pin in 1995. She also worked at numerous blood drives and taught knitting and crocheting at the Women's Club of Pittsfield.

Her husband, John A. Mole Jr., whom she married April 6, 1942, died Feb. 13, 1964.

She leaves a son, Richard P. Mole of Pittsfield; a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Margaret Ann Paladino Mole, who died Jan. 9, 2005, will be Thursday at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be tomorrow, Jan. 12, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Members of the Mount Carmel Church Ladies' Guild will meet Wednesday at 6:30 for a wake service led by Father Deeker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, both in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Mole is lovingly survived by her granddaughter, Rebecca M. Klein of Salem, N.H., and her great-granddaughter, Taryn A. Klein of Pittsfield; also by her devoted daughter-in-law, Cynthia Mazur Mole, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter R. Paladino, in 1992.
