Raymond Hermanski

Raymond Hermanski, 86, of 24 East Cleveland St., Greenfield, died Thursday at the Calvin Coolidge Nursing Home in Northampton.
Born in Pittsfield on July 10, 1918, son of Charles and Stella Mierzejewski Choromanski, he attended Pittsfield schools and resided in Pittsfield until moving to Greenfield in 1996.
Prior to World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the CCC Camp and served with Battery B, 434th Field Artillery Battalion. During World War II, he attained the rank of corporal.
He was in battles and campaigns in Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was decorated for his service.
Mr. Hermanski was employed by GE as a welder in the power transformer division for 40 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Greenfield and was a life member of the VFW Post 448 and the Polish Community Club, both in Pittsfield.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, the former Helen G. Musiak; a son, John G. Hermanski of Salem; a brother, Edward Hermanski of Pittsfield, and two sisters, Wanda Morse and Jennie Perrault, both of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 in Sacred Heart Church in Greenfield with the Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield. A calling hour at the KOSTANSKI FUNERAL HOME, 220 Federal St., Greenfield, will be Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, c/o Rev. Aksamit, 75 Prospect St., Greenfield, MA 01301.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Barbara; a sister-in-law, Jennie; a brother-in-law, George Perrault, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Majek Hermanski, and a sister, Helen Fischer.
