Hazel E. Johnston, 82, of 64 Boylston St. died Thursday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on May 26, 1922, daughter of John Foster Jr. and Lena Nash Foster, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Johnston was employed in the wire wrap department of GE's ordnance division for more than 20 years before retiring.
She was an active member of Immanuel Community Church.
She enjoyed crocheting, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
She leaves three daughters, Evelyn Goggia and Susan Trumble, both of Pittsfield, and Karen Roberts of Albany, N.Y.; four sons, Howard Johnston of Sandisfield, Ellis Johnston and Allan Johnston, both of Pittsfield, and William Johnston of New Ashford; a brother, John E. Foster of Pittsfield; a sister, Lois Dart of Scotia, N.Y., 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Hazel E. Johnston, who died Jan. 6, 2005, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 at Immanuel Community Church by the Rev. Stanley Wooley. Burial will be in the spring in Cemetery of the Evergreens in New Lebanon, N.Y.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME. She was a member of the Scace family and leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Community Church or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
