Madeline R. Spasyk, 90, of 115 Holliston St., Medway, a former longtime resident of 87 Edward Ave., died Saturday evening at Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital in Milford.
Born in Pittsfield on July 4, 1914, daughter of James P. and Edith M. Hill Kane, she was a 1931 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Spasyk was employed by GE in the plastics division for 30 years. She took early retirement so she could care for her aunt, Winifred Kane, who had been her guardian since she was 14. Earlier, she had worked at the Pittsfield Milk Exchange.
She was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality, and active in the Bobby Kidney Sunshine Club and the Right to Life movement.
She also was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.
Her husband, William Spasyk, whom she married Nov. 26, 1942, died in 1966.
She leaves a brother, Ronald Kane of Pittsfield, and her caregivers, her niece and nephew-in-law Cecilia and Robert Mancini of Franklin.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Madeline R. "Mad" Spasyk, 90, was called safely home on Jan. 8, 2005. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME from 9 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to the charity of choice. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Katherine Kane; nieces and nephews, Mary and Richard McWhorter and family; Bernadette and Edwin Hill and family; Katherine and Steven Ostroff and family; Robert and Cindy Harrison and family; Paul and Julie Harrison and family; Nora Harrison; Michael Kane; David Kane and family; James Kane, and Terese and Anthony Carnevale.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Kane, whose funeral will be celebrated with her, and Gertrude Maston and Mary Harrison. She is fondly remembered by the Spasyk family.
