Santina A. "Sue" Spadafora

Santina A. "Sue" Spadafora, 97, formerly of 14 McKinley Terrace, died Tuesday at Providence Care Center of Lenox, where she had resided since September 2001.

Born in Lee on Jan. 2, 1908, daughter of Ignazio and Anna DeMatteo Guristante, she was a 1927 graduate of Lee High School.

She also graduated from Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield.

Mrs. Spadafora had been em-ployed by GE as a stenographer in the shipping department of the former power transformer department.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Ladies Guild. In 1927, she played the piano for silent movies in Lee.

Her husband, Joseph Spadafora, whom she married June 18, 1934, died May 10, 1995.

She leaves two sons, Joseph V. Spadafora Jr. of Sarasota, Fla., and Michael A. Spadafora of Windsor, Conn.; a daughter, Rosemary Sinopoli of Pittsfield; a sister, Elizabeth Enser of Lee, 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by another daughter, Rita C. Dapson.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Santina A. "Sue" Spadafora, who died Jan. 4, 2005, will take place Saturday, Jan. 8, at 9 from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. The Mount Carmel Church Ladies Guild will meet at 5:30 at the funeral home for a vigil service. She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Guristante and Pasquali Guristante, and two sisters, Mary Guristante and Sister Mary Anita Guristante.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church or Visiting Nurse Association of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
