Elizabeth B. "Libby" Kane

Elizabeth B. "Libby" Kane, 87, of 115 Holliston St., Medway, died Tuesday evening at Medway Country Manor.

She had been a longtime resident of 87 Edward Ave.

Born in Pittsfield on May 27, 1917, daughter of James P. and Edith M. Hill Kane, she was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.

Miss Kane had been employed by GE as an executive secretary, retiring in 1979 after 40 years of service.

A former communicant of Sacred Heart Church, she was a member of its Rosary Sodality.

She was a member of the GE Century and Pensioners clubs, and was an active member of the Right to Life movement.

She leaves a sister, Madeline Spasyk of Medway; a brother, Ronald Kane of Pittsfield, and her niece and caregiver, Cecilia Mancini of Franklin.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Elizabeth B. "Libby" Kane, 87, was called safely home on Jan. 4, 2005. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME from 8 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Stroke Program at Berkshire Medical Center in care of the funeral home.

She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Mary McWhorter, Bernadette Hill, Katherine Ostroff, Robert, Paul and Nora Harrison, Michael, David and James Kane, and Terese Carnevale, and several great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Gertrude Maston and Mary Harrison.
