PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Gertrude A. Smith, 68, of 51 McArthur St. died Tuesday morning, Jan. 4, 2005, at Berkshire Medical Center, following a long illness.
Born in Pittsfield on May 3, 1936, daughter of Joseph J. Brazeau and Gertrude A. Duclos Brazeau Danylieko, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Smith had been employed as a machine operator at the A.H. Rice Silk Mill for more than 10 years, retiring because of ill health. Previously, she had worked at the former Wyandotte Worsted Mill.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church.
She and her husband, Frederick Smith Sr., were married March 28, 1956.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Frederick Smith Jr. of Pittsfield; two daughters, Barbara Kerwood and Nancy Rovario, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, Joseph Brazeau of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Henry Brazeau of Adams; a sister, Rosemary DeMarsico of Adams, and three grandsons, Christopher Smith, David Kerwood and Joseph Smith, with whom she enjoyed spending time.
She was predeceased by another daughter, Bonnie Jean Smith, her brother Alfred Brazeau and her stepfather, John Danylieko.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Smith will be Saturday at 2 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. John Salatino, pastor of St. Mark's Church, officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
