Blanche Veronica Gebarowski, 87, of 52 Mountain Road died Thursday at home.
Born in Savoy on Jan. 15, 1917, daughter of August and Julia Gavlok Gancarz, she attended schools there.
She had resided at 334 North St., Cheshire, until moving to Dalton two years ago to live with her daughter, Phyllis M. Stefan.
Mrs. Gebarowski was employed as a nurse's aide at North Adams Regional Hospital for 10 years. She also had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for five years and, before that, as a waitress at the former Blue Saucer Restaurant in Cheshire.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cheshire and a member of its Rosary Society. At one time, she had taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and was a member of a discussion club there.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting and crafts.
Her husband, Eugene F. Gebarowski Sr., whom she married Oct. 23, 1933, died Dec. 24, 2002.
Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Eugene F. Gebarowski Jr. of Cheshire; a brother, Alfred Gancarz of Adams; six sisters, Rose Colley of California, Kathryn Bieniek of the state of Florida, Adele Czubryt and Wanda Kieltyka, both of Adams, Cecilia Bloniarz of Savoy and Helen Michalski of Cheshire, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Catherine G. Cooper, died in 1991.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Blanche Veronica Gebarowski, who died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 1:15 p.m. from DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 2 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, by the Rev. David A. Raymond, pastor. Burial will be Cheshire Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225. She also leaves her sons-in-law, William Stefan and George Cooper, and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Gebarowski; her four grandchildren, JoAnn Daignault, Katherine Bissaillon, Linda Garner and Jonathan Gebarowski, and four great-grandchildren, Ashley Haas, Colin Haas, Ben Garner and C.J. Garner.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and John Gancarz, and a sister, Stacia Krezeminski.
