Helen A. Galletly, 92, of 127 Ashuelot St., died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Northampton on March 6, 1912, daughter of Roy A. and Edith Walker Wetherbee, she attended schools in Lansingburgh, N.Y., before moving to Pittsfield in 1927. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1932 and from Hillcrest Hospital.
She lived in Lanesboro from 1954 until 1969, when she moved to Dalton.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Galletly did private duty and worked at the GE infirmary. She retired in 1977 from the former Hillcrest Hospital with 25 years of service. Following her retirement, she worked for Upjohn's until she was 75.
She was a member of Dalton Congregational Church, the Women's Club of Pittsfield, Sew-N-Such and for 26 years, the Christian Center Auxiliary.
She enjoyed knitting and played bridge with her group of friends for 51 years.
Her husband, Ralph Lincoln Galletly, whom she married July 8, 1939, died in 1965.
She leaves three sons, Wayne Alden Galletly of Dalton, Ronald James Galletly of Edmunds, Wash., and Alan Arthur Scott of Pittsfield, a cousin's son whom she raised from age 12 after the death of his parents; a sister, Mildred Walker Wetherbee Charron of Lenox; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mrs. Helen A. Galletly will be conducted Monday at 11 at First Congregational Church in Dalton by the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 2 to 5 at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Beth Anne Galletly O'Connor, Rebecca Anne Galletly Pursell and Sarah Anne Galletly Pudlo, all of Dalton, Jeffrey Alan Scott and Steven Roy Scott, both of Pittsfield, Daniel James Galletly and Laura Jean Galletly, both of Edmunds, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Kevin Mark Pursell and Jacqueline V. Pursell, Kayla Lee Parreault, Julia Christine O'Connor, Thomas Alden O'Connor, Faith Anne Pudlo, Lilian Grace Pudlo and Jack Michale Pudlo, all of Dalton; grandsons-in-law, Christopher O'Connor, Kenneth Pursell and Craig Pudlo, all of Dalton; daughters-in-law, Jeri Lee Dietrich Galletly of Dalton, Kathi Lyde Galletly of Edmunds and Barbara Adams Scott of Pittsfield.
Memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church in Dalton, HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Sunday Luncheon Program in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, 01226.
