Joseph A. Cimini Sr

Joseph A. Cimini Sr., 80, of 106 Ventura Ave. died Saturday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on July 9, 1924, son of Marino and Mary E. Cimini, he was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Cimini was employed by GE in the power transformer department for 23 years, retiring in 1989. He also owned the Big Apple Fruit Market on North Street for eight years. Before that, he worked at the former Wyandotte Worsted Co. for several years.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church.

He and his wife, the former Rosaline L. Rotti, were married April 22, 1945, at Mount Carmel Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mary L. McGuinn of Smithfield, R.I., and Carol A. Cimini of Shutesbury; two sons, Joseph A. Cimini Jr. and Anthony J. Cimini, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Josephine M. Drobiak of Pittsfield; a brother, Alfred A. Cimini, of Pittsfield, and nine grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Joseph Anthony Cimini, 80, beloved husband of 59 years to Rosaline L. Rotti Cimini, passed away on Dec. 11, 2004. Left to cherish special memories of him are his wife, Dede, loving four children, Mary L. McGuinn and her husband, Michael, of Smithfield, R.I., Joseph A. Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Pittsfield, Anthony J. of Pittsfield and Carol A. Cimini of Shutesbury, Mass. We are deeply saddened and will carry his gentleness and love forever.

Joe also will be sadly missed by his sister, Josephine Drobiak, and her husband, Frederick, and brother, Alfred Cimini, and his wife, Norma, and his sister-in-law, Katherine Cimini. His nine grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa, Meghan, Michael, Lyndsay, Jacob, James, Jillian and Caleb, will remember him as the best Papa ever. Joe held a special place in his heart for children and was a generous supporter of the Berkshire County Jimmy Fund and other charitable organizations.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Dominic and Felix, and sister-in-law, Hope Cimini. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Dec. 14, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Berkshire County Jimmy Fund or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
