David Lindsey Rice

David Lindsey Rice, 40, of 606 Elm St., died Monday at home after being stricken there.

Born in Pittsfield on June 1, 1964, son of Charles C. Rice Sr. and Lynda Lee Lindsey Rice, he attended schools in Pittsfield and Miss Hall's School during its brief time as the coeducational Hall School.

He also attended Berkshire Community College.

Mr. Rice was employed as manager of Jiffy Lube for five years, until a fall in 2001 left him paralyzed.

He also had been a baker at the Pittsfield Rye Bakery and, prior to that, worked at CCR Enterprises.

He enjoyed fishing and cooking.

He leaves two brothers, Ronald W. Rice of Dalton and Charles C. Rice Jr. of California; a sister, Crystal C. Rice of Dalton; a stepsister, Pamela J. Stuto of Pittsfield, and his stepmother, Pamela J. Maillet Rice of Dalton.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for David L. Rice, who died Dec. 6, 2004, will be conducted Saturday at 10 at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. Those planning to attend the service should meet within the cemetery gate at 9:45.

There will be no calling hours. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be may be made to the Christopher Reeve Foundation for Stem Cell Research in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, which is handling arrangements.

David is lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, by his aunt Jeanne Butler, longtime friend Bonnie Nicola and his caregiver, Maria Daley.
