Edith M. Galvagni

Edith M. Galvagni, 88, of 334 Merrill Road died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 23, 1916, daughter of Giovanni and Giovanna Saracco Cavallo, she attended local schools.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Galvagni had been employed at the former Zayres Department Store for eight years and the former Bradlees Department Store for 12 years, retiring in 1981.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church.

She enjoyed ceramics, knitting and crocheting.

She and her husband, Eugene P. Galvagni Sr., celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary Oct. 18. They were married in Mount Carmel Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Eugene P. Galvagni Jr., Robert J. Galvagni Sr. and David R. Galvagni Sr., all of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Diane L. Webb, died March 21.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Edith M. Cavallo Galvagni, who died Nov. 29, 2004, will take place Thursday, Dec. 2, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will celebrated at 10 at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Dec. 1, from 4 to 7. She was the mother-in-law of Kathleen Doyle, Debra S. Galvagni, Debra A. Galvagni and Douglas R. Webb.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Peter, Fred F. and Louis C. Cavallo, and three sisters, Tina Cavallo, Catherine M. Magi and Adeline Dawley.
