Edward Francis McHendry

Edward Francis McHendry, 97, formerly of Riverview West Apartments, died Wednesday at Noble Hospital in Westfield after a brief illness.
He had resided at Harbor Side Health Care in Westfield for a year and a half.
Born in Pittsfield on April 15, 1907, son of Edward and Henrietta Wyck McHendry, he attended Pittsfield schools.
He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 17, 1925, to Feb. 20, 1926.
Mr. McHendry was employed by the former Hathaway Bakeries and the former Bond Bread as a route foreman, retiring in 1972 after 45 years.
Following his retirement, he worked for Cumberland Farms as a sales clerk in Pittsfield and Dalton for 10 years.
He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church, a member of the New England Teamsters Union and a Boston Red Sox fan.
His wife, the former Agnes E. Massimiano, whom he married Nov. 23, 1930, died July 5, 1997.
He leaves a son, Walter J. McHendry of Boston; a daughter, Phyllis A. Hubbard of Westfield; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Edward F. McHendry, who died Nov. 24, 2004, will be Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to Providence Adult Day Care Center, 24 Clinton St., Westfield 01085.
He is lovingly survived by his six grandchildren, four in Westfield and two in West Lake Village, Calif., and by his six adored great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter McHendry.
