Rhoda Agnes Plaza, 89, formerly of 111 Mountain Drive, Cranston, R.I., died Saturday at Berkshire Place, where she had resided for two years.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 8, 1915, daughter of William F. and Agnes Connor Walker, she was a 1933 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She also graduated from Metropolitan Hospital School of Nursing in New York and earned a bachelor of science degree from Ohio State University in 1940 and a master of science degree from Simmons College in 1954.
Mrs. Plaza began her career with the Visiting Nurse Association of Rhode Island in 1942 and retired as director in 1977.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a former communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston, where she was a lector and Eucharistic minister.
She leaves her niece and caregiver, Nancy L. Hiltpold of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Rhoda Agnes Walker Plaza, 89, was called safely home on Nov. 27, 2004. A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 9:30 until the time of the service at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Rhode Island or to Berkshire Place Activities Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
She also leaves her sister-in-law, C. Louise Walker of Pittsfield; a nephew, Robert F. Walker of Burbank, Calif., and another niece, Patricia A. McErlain of Easthampton. Her brother, William F. Walker, died Oct. 11, 1971. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
