Pamela P. Dwyer, 79, of 1051 West St. died Monday morning at home.
Born in London on Oct. 27, 1925, daughter of Cecil and Constance Norwood Hornby, she was educated there, and attended drama school after the war.
She came to the United States in 1957 and to Pittsfield in 1967. She became a U.S. citizen after her marriage.
Mrs. Dwyer was employed as an assistant to the executive director of the Federation of French Alliances in New York City, where she wrote a bilingual newsletter and arranged lecture tours for noteworthy French writers and politicians.
She also managed trips for members of the Alliance Francaise to visit Paris. While in London, she was a fashion model and acted in various movies, such as the musical "London Town" and "Knights of the Round Table," which were American-English productions. She also appeared on television and on the radio.
She was an active volunteer at the Berkshire Museum, Jacob's Pillow in Becket and Shakespeare & Company in Lenox. She was an avid reader, gardener and theatergoer. She played tennis until the age of 70, and had won a few trophies. She also enjoyed animals.
Her husband, Judge John Dwyer, former presiding justice of Southern Berkshire County, whom she married in 1967, died June 18, 1979.
She leaves her companion, Dr. Herbert Sandick, and a brother, John Hornby of London.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Pamela P. Dwyer died Monday morning, Nov. 22, 2004, at her home, 1051 West St. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, Nov. 26, from 4 to 6 at the Lenox Club on Yokum St., Lenox. Her good friends and admirers are invited.
She also leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; she had no children of her own, but followed their careers with great interest and pride.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or to Shakespeare & Company in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield.
