Shirley Beatrice Broadhurst

Shirley Beatrice Broadhurst, 79, of 60 Williamsburg Terrace died Monday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox.

Born in Westfield on Feb. 4, 1925, daughter of John and Beatrice LaFogg Cooper, she was a 1943 graduate of Westfield High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Broadhurst had been a sales associate for Stanley Home Products in Westfield.

She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church.

She had been a Girl Scout leader, and had enjoyed traveling the countryside in her recreational vehicle. She had a winter residence in Raymondville, Texas.

Her husband, Thomas R. Broadhurst Sr., whom she married Feb. 25, 1949, died May 10, 2000.

She leaves three sons, Thomas R. Broadhurst Jr. of Easthampton, David Broadhurst of Pittsfield and Timothy Broadhurst of Westfield; two daughters, Patricia Shea of Southwick and Nancy Miner of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth Krupa and Fred Krupa, both of Westfield; two sisters, Dorothy LaFreniere and Marilyn Starzyk, both of Westfield, and seven grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Shirley Beatrice Broadhurst, who died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, will be Saturday, Nov. 27, from 9:30 to 10:30 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 100 Morningview Drive, Pittsfield, by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor.

Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Broadhurst leaves her sons-in-law, Gary Shea and Thom Miner; daughter-in-law, Ellen Broadhurst; seven grandchildren, Stephen Shea, Aaron Shea, Amy Minder, Colleen Miner, Kathleen Broadhurst, Liam Broadhurst and Jesse McCaul; her aunts, Aida Hosmer and Edna Humason, and her uncle, Lawrence Cooper, all of Westfield.
