Clarence William Niebling

Clarence William Niebling, 97, formerly of Manchester Avenue, died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since June.

Born in Adams on Feb. 27, 1907, son of Henry and Olga Urban Niebling, he attended schools in Adams and moved to Pittsfield in 1930.

Mr. Niebling was employed by GE as a welder and group leader in the East plant, retiring in 1971 after 41 years.

He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

His wife, the former Hortense M. Edda, whom he married Sept. 2, 1930, died April 25, 1996.

He leaves a daughter, Marlene F. Brouker of Pittsfield; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Clarence William Niebling, who died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, will be held Monday, Nov. 22, at 1 at DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. James C. Dannals, rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be held from noon to 1. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Niebling may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield 01201.

Mr. Niebling leaves three grandchildren, Mark Brouker, Paula Leroux and Pamela Brouker, and five great-grandchildren, Shayna, Jacob and Katherine Brouker, and Daniel and Madeline Leroux.
