William Smith

William Smith, 63, of 108 Bryan St. died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 12, 1940, the son of Benjamin and Blanche Ciosek Smith, he was a 1958 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He also attended Berkshire Community College.
Mr. Smith was employed by GE in the power transformer and ordnance departments as a winder and production worker, retiring in 1998 after 36 years.
He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church, and enjoyed traveling, hunting and woodworking.
He and his wife, the former Judith E. Chase, were married April 16, 1966, in St. Thomas' Church in Adams.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Timothy W. Smith of Concord, N.C.; a daughter, Sandra A. Schilling of Lenox; two sisters, Helen R. Gardner of Pittsfield and Elizabeth Fleming of Summerville, S.C., and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for William Smith, who died Nov. 19, 2004, will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 10 at St. Ann's Church in Lenox by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or to the charity of the donor's choice in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, which is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Smith also is survived by his six adored grandchildren, Benjamin M. Smith, and Annabella E., Christopher D., Abigail E., Elise M. and Chloe A. Schilling; daughter-in-law, Susan J. Smith; son-in-law, Daniel C. Schilling; brothers-in-law, James Gardner and Robert Fleming, and nieces and nephews.
