Frances B. Schiller

Frances B. Schiller, 88, of Melbourne Place, formerly of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center after a 15-year long battle with cancer.
Born in Lawrence on March 28, 1916, daughter of Aaron and Anna Paresky Berenson, she attended schools there and was a 1933 graduate of Lawrence High School.
She also received a bachelor's degree from Smith College.
She moved to Pittsfield in 1938 upon her marriage to her first husband, Henry Simkin, who died July of 1954.
Mrs. Schiller was a member of Congregation Knesset Israel and a life member of its sisterhood, Alyn and Hadassah. She was also a member of Temple Beth Zion in Royal Palm Beach.
Her husband, Dr. Louis Schiller, whom she married in March 1959, died Oct. 27, 2000.
She leaves two daughters, Martha Schiller Moses of New York City and Barbara Ellen Simkin of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandsons and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Frances B. Simkin Schiller, 88, died Nov. 15, 2004. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 at Congregation Knesset Israel Synagogue, 16 Colt Road, Pittsfield, with Rabbi Lynn Liberman, spiritual leader, officiating. Burial will follow in Knesset Israel Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
The family will receive friends during Shivah on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 57 Sampson Parkway. Minyan services will be at 7:30 p.m. both days. She is lovingly survived by her grandsons, Micah Moses, Dr. Andrew Klompus and Jeffrey Klompus and her great-grandson, Jake Klompus.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Simkin Scholarship Fund, Haddash for Yahrzeit in Israel or the American Cancer Society in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield 01201.
