Delia Carosso

Delia Carosso, 94, formerly of 176 Brighton Ave., died Monday at the Curtis Manor Retirement Home in Dalton, where she had resided since June 2001.
Born in Pittsfield on June 9, 1910, daughter of Modesto and Emilia Icardi Masengo, she resided in Italy until 1924, when she returned to Pittsfield and attended schools here.
Mrs. Carosso was briefly employed with GE and worked for 15 years at the former Wendell Hotel in Pittsfield as head housekeeper.
She also worked for a short time at the former Eaton Paper Co. in Pittsfield, retiring in 1971.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing and playing cards.
Her husband, Attilio D. Carosso, whom she married Dec. 26, 1972, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, died March 13, 2000.
She leaves a sister, Flora A. Bertolino of Pittsfield, two step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild. A stepson, John C. Carosso, died May 7, 1998.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Delia Masengo Carosso will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at 11 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Nov. 18, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Mozzi, and a brother, Raymond Masengo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Church or Curtis Manor Retirement Home in care of the funeral home.
