George Henry LeBarnes Sr

George Henry LeBarnes Sr., 73, of 193 Elberon Ave., Rose Manor Apartments, died Monday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 29, 1931, son of William H. and Anna May Lee LeBarnes, he attended local schools.
He served in the National Guard.
Mr. LeBarnes had been employed by the city of Pittsfield as a heavy-equipment operator for 25 years, retiring in 1987. He also was a certified welder.
He enjoyed dogs, the Yankees, hunting, country music and playing the harmonica.
He and his wife, the former Antonietta V. Lagrotteria, were married June 20, 1953, in Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, George H. LeBarnes Jr. of Centerville and John H. LeBarnes of Stephentown, N.Y.; five daughters, Kathy Chapman of Peru, Nancy Derby of Hancock, Sally LeBarnes of Dalton, Susan Turner of Pittsfield and Patricia Francoeur of Cheshire; two sisters, Anna May Chapman of Pittsfield and Marilyn Cole of Georgia; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for George H. LeBarnes Sr., who died Nov. 8, 2004, will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 until the time of the service.
Mr. LeBarnes, a devoted husband, loving father and adored grandfather and great-grandfather, will be sadly missed. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
