Shirley A. Zajac, 67, of 240 Harryel St. died Thursday morning at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 29, 1936, daughter of Walter and Anna Stockley Zalenski, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1954 and attended Berkshire Community College.
Mrs. Zajac was employed by Miss Hall's School for 13 years as a secretary for the alumni department. She retired in 1993.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed cooking and polka dancing.
She was named PolaskiDay queen at the Polish Falcons Club.
She and her husband, Edwin Zajac, were married May 30, 1958, in Holy Family Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Lori Robitaille of Pittsfield and Lisa Sullivan of Goshen, N.Y.; two sisters, Dorothy Watroba and Rosemary Leach, both of Pittsfield, and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Shirley A. Zajac, 67, died Nov. 4, 2004. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Nov. 7, from 2 to 5 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Monday at 10 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either Berkshire Humane Society or the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, both in care of the funeral home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
She is also lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Kyle, Christian and Kelsey Robitaille, Carly and Regan Sullivan, and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, William Zalenski.
