Alice L. VanBramer, 93, formerly of 26 Dexter St., died yesterday morning at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided for three years.
Born in Pittsfield on April 8, 1911, daughter of John M. and Ellen Goodbeau Francoeur, she attended Pittsfield schools.
A homemaker, Mrs. VanBramer had at one time worked at the former A.H. Rice Silk Mill and at GE.
She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and enjoyed working in her yard.
Her husband, Henry A. VanBramer, whom she married May 26, 1939, died Sept. 19, 1985.
She leaves a daughter, Carol A. Frechette of Pittsfield, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A kindred spirit has died tonight at 93 years of age. Alice was so sweet and good the angels took her away, her smile could melt you, her laugh contagious, Hershey bars were her pleasure. So sweet and kind this Mom of mine. She now spends time above with others. May the legacy of Alice live on with her family and friends, anyone who met Alice please remember her as touching your heart. To the wonderful and caring staff on One North at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, we the family of Alice extend our thank you for years of dedication to my mother.
It takes special people to care for those in the last years of life and you certainly exceed in this. Fondly, Carol, Lou, Patricia, Michael and Victoria. The funeral for Alice L. VanBramer, who died Nov. 6, 2004, will be Tuesday at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart and Stroke Association in care of the funeral home.
Alice is lovingly survived by her three grandchildren, Patricia Todriff, Michael and Victoria Frechette and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Laurence, Raymond, John, William and Arthur Francoeur and four sisters, Lena and Olive Greenleaf, and Blanche and Esther Francoeur.
