William H. Biggart Jr

William H. Biggart Jr., 78, of 329 North St., died Friday afternoon at Craneville Place.
Born in Adams on May 10, 1926, son of William H. Biggart Sr. and Elsie Micklejohn Biggart, he attended schools in Dalton and was a graduate of the former Dalton High School.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving as a petty officer, second class, and radioman.
Mr. Biggart was employed for 38 years by GE in the power transformer department and the naval ordnance department, from which he retired as an inspector in 1986.
He also owned and operated the former Dalton Shell Service on North Street for 31 years.
He was a life member of American Legion Post 155 and a member of VFW Post 448 of Pittsfield.
He and his wife, the former M. Jean Cormier, were married June 15, 1949.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, William H. Biggart III and David J. Biggart Sr., both of Dalton; a daughter, Donna L. DuCharme of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William H. Biggart Jr., who died Nov. 5, 2004, will be conducted Tuesday at 2 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes' Church.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery, Dalton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Ambulance Fund or to the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Biggart is lovingly survived by his grandchildren Scott DuCharme, Jason DuCharme, Tami Jo Saunders and Shannon Biggart; by his three great-grandchildren, Joshua Biggart, Tanner Saunders and Shauna Biggart, and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson, David J. Biggart Jr. and two brothers, Robert and Thomas Biggart.
