Irving J. Amazon, 84, of West Dover, Vt., formerly of Pittsfield, died Thursday at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt.
Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1919, son of Abraham and Eva Rubin Amazon, he was raised in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School.
He retired to Naples, Fla., then moved to Vermont in 2001.
An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he was discharged in 1945 with the rank of corporal.
Mr. Amazon owned and operated American Mold and Tool, retiring in 1982. He had first worked as an apprentice tool and die maker at May's Engineering.
He was an avid boater and fisherman.
He and his wife, the former Harriet Meyer, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Sept. 6. They were married in Pittsfield.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Alan Amazon of Kernersville, N.C.; a daughter, Deborah Amazon of West Dover, six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Another son, Richard Amazon, died in 1993.
