Marguerite M. Simpson

Marguerite M. Simpson, 87, formerly of Tamarack Road, died Thursday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided since July.

Born in Pittsfield on May 2, 1917, daughter of Edward and Agnes E. Kirby Broderick, she was a 1937 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.

Mrs. Simpson was employed by the former St. Luke's Hospital from 1937 to 1942 and by GE from 1942 to 1947.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Her husband, George F. Simpson, whom she married Feb. 9, 1946, died Nov. 10, 1987.

She leaves two daughters, Mary B. Prior of Adams and Joann M. Flis of Castleton, Vt.; a son, Richard G. Simpson of Adams; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Marguerite will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren, Christopher C. Prior, Staff Sgt. Shaun P. Prior, Michelle M. Prior, Kimberly Simpson-Catalano, Richard G. Simpson Jr., Christel M. Flis, Sally A. Flis and Benjamin F. Flis; by her great-grandchildren, Kayla A. Prior, Michael P. Prior, Alyssa D. Prior, Mikayla E. Catalano and Kyleigh N. Catalano, and by her grandchildren-in-law, John Catalano, Colleen Prior and Kimberley Simpson.

Her focus in life was to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The funeral for Marguerite M. Simpson, who died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, will be Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, 01201.
