Frederick W. Harrington

Frederick W. Harrington, 81, formerly of 95 Bryant St., died Thursday morning at St. Ann's Community in Rochester, N.Y., where he had resided for six months.
Born in Pittsfield on July 11, 1923, son of William and Dorothy Brock Harrington, he was a 1941 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Harrington was employed by GE, first in the welding department and, later, as a foreman in the power transformer department. He retired in 1984 with 43 years of service. He also was a shop steward.
A communicant of St. Mark's Church, he was an altar server and eucharistic minister for many years.
He was a member of the GE Pensioners' and Quarter Century clubs and a director of the former Boys' Club's Cavalier Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed woodworking.
He and his wife, the former Anna T. Spence, were married November 1946 in St. Charles' Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Patricia Gellner of Rochester, N.Y., and Linda Callahan of Dalton; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, W. Timothy Harrington, died June 15, 2000.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Frederick W. Harrington, a former longtime Pittsfield resident, died Thursday, Oct. 21. The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 25, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Church or to the Pittsfield Boys' and Girls' Club, both in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Harrington also leaves his loving sons-in-law, Robert and Thomas.
