Serafino J. "Skee" Fusco, 72, of Wilbraham, formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday in a Cooperstown N.Y. Hospital.
Born in Cranston, R.I., on Sept. 28, 1932, son of Alfred L and Catherine DiOrio Fusco, he was a 1950 graduate of Cranston High School and a 1954 graduate of Brown University.
He received his doctorate in chemistry in 1961 from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Fusco was employed by Merck and Co., Exxon, GE, National Environmental Instruments and National Mine Service. He later purchased National Fiber Inc. and in 1997 sold the business and retired.
He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Country Club, all in Wilbraham. He was also a member of the Hampden Wilbraham Rotary Club and was treasurer and chairman of the Scholarship Committee at the time of his death.
He and his wife, the former Shirley Ann Denno, were married 43 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Kathy Gittins of Southboro and Carol Kressen of Ellicott City, Md.; a sister, Annmarie Byrnes of Coventry, R.I., and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Family and friends may meet at St. Cecilia's Church on Monday at 11 for a Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 at WILBRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, 2551 Boston Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia's Church Building Fund, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095, or to the Wilbraham Rotary Memorial Scholarship Foundations, 2341 Boston Road, Wilbraham.
Survivors include two sons-in-law, Thomas Gittins and Parker Kressen, and five grandchildren, Sarah and Jennifer Gittins, and Kathleen, Joseph and Melissa Kressen.
