Walter Curphey

Walter Curphey, 88, of Ghent, formerly of Old Chatham, N.Y., died Thursday at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N.Y.
He was the father of Peter S. Curphey of Pittsfield.
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 9, 1916, son of Theodore and Alice Norrild Curphey, he attended Hofstra University.
Mr. Curphey was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
He was employed by ABD Co. as a sales representative in Roslyn, N.Y., for many years and moved to Old Chatham in 1979.
His wife, the former Virginia Wigle, died in 1996.
Besides his son, he leaves two daughters, Darelle A. Bryant of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Melinda B. Lupo of Ghent; another son, John A. Curphey of Playa del Rey, Calif.; a brother, Thomas J. Curphey of Hanover, N.H.; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Walter Curphey will be Wednesday at 11 from WENK FUNERAL HOME in Chatham. Interment will be in Ghent Union Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
