Anne R. VanBlarcom, 77, of Darlene Avenue and Sarasota, Fla., died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Springfield on July 23, 1927, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth McKinnon Hartnett, she was raised in Marlboro and Northboro.
She was a 1943 graduate of Marlboro High School and a 1947 graduate of Emmanuel College in Boston, where she majored in mathematics and minored in physics.
Mrs. VanBlarcom was employed by GE in Schenectady, N.Y., as an engineering assistant.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield and of St. Thomas More Church in Sarasota.
She enjoyed drawing, painting, photography, and doll and jewelry making.
She and her husband, Albert M. VanBlarcom, were married Feb. 18, 1950.
Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters, Patricia Ann VanBlarcom of Wilmington, Catherine Marie Gee of Novi, Mich., and Susan Elizabeth Sassi of Bow, N.H., and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Anne VanBlarcom, who died Oct. 23, 2004, will be today, Oct. 25, from 4 to 7 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 11 at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James Joyce, pastor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Survivors include two sons-in-law, Bill Gee and Randy Sassi; her five beloved grandchildren, Ken, James and Beth Gee, Jay Sassi and Beth Morris, and many nieces and nephews. The youngest of five children, she was a very talented artist and her many talents and interests were freely shared with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, 01201.
